great work! I also like your extensions of Creole -- I think I will steal some of your ideas, especially the option to use both "=" and "!". I am, however, a little curious about what you need that ~~italic~~ for -- isn't italic enough?

Thanks for your comments! The "!" makes sense as part of the table of contents extension (another good idea from JSPWiki?). I need the table of contents and deleted/inserted text extensions for my documentation projects. Yes, italic is enough for me. I'm simply testing ~~italic~~ in my parser to see how it works. I'll remove one or the other once the italic discussion settles down.
