The International Symposium on Wikis (WikiSym) is so far the only conference dedicated to all wiki research and practice -- lightweight, open, collaborative systems for recording and refining ideas and information.

The first spec of WikiCreole was the result of the Wiki Markup Standard Workshop at WikiSym2006. The spec was evolved in this wiki and finally, Creole 1.0 was presented at WikiSym2007.
